Azure With Tom is now Security With Tom

A short update: azurewithtom.com has been rebranded to securitywithtom.com with a new name, logo, and a broader security focus.

Azure With Tom is now Security With Tom

Azure With Tom is now Security With Tom

I’m rebranding AzureWithTom to SecurityWithTom.

  • Old: azurewithtom.com
  • New: securitywithtom.com

Why the change?

Over time the topics I write about expanded beyond “just Azure”. The new name better reflects the direction of the site: security across identity, cloud, and modern workplace, with a strong focus on practical guidance and configurations, with ofcourse some side-quests along the road.

What’s new?

  • A new name: SecurityWithTom
  • A new logo and refreshed look
  • A broader content scope (still very Microsoft-focused, but not limited to Azure)
  • Less maintenance
  • Easier blogposting with the use of Github Actions

More room to build distinct tracks

This rebrand makes it easier to separate content streams and experiment with new ideas. For example, I can spin up HTB with Tom for walkthroughs and lab content, while keeping enterprise security topics separate.

It also lets me adapt the visual identity per track - the owl can shift from blue (core SecurityWithTom), to red for red teaming, or green for Hack The Box themes.

Content-wise, I can host different GitHub pages for different tracks (blogs, walkthroughs, and other content) while keeping everything connected under the SecurityWithTom umbrella.

Why an owl?

For me, the owl matches what security should be: a keen and sharp eye, full awareness (it can turn its head almost 360 degrees), and fast but silent movement. It’s also a symbol of wisdom and patience, you watch carefully before you act. And honestly, I just love owls.

What stays the same?

  • The same Tom and approach: practical, hands-on posts
  • Existing articles remain available (and will continue to be updated when timelines or guidance changes)
  • The goal: help others implement secure defaults and understand why they matter

What’s next?

Expect more posts on:

  • Microsoft Entra
  • Microsoft XDR
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • Secure device/app integrations (OAuth, Graph, workload identities)
  • Practical detection/monitoring and hardening guides

Thanks for reading and welcome to SecurityWithTom.
